Web Intelligence

Ok, I don't know exactly where to take this, but I can't help but to think that the WWW represents some sort of global consciousness. It's well cross-associated, it's got sensors to the real-worlds, it's got the ability to search itself. So that's just a thought, maybe someone could expand upon it a bit?
